I'm really looking forward to this. I really loved all of the Fallout games (except for Fallout: Tactics), and this looks to be pretty good. There's a teaser trailer up, in case you haven't seen it yet. I'm sure it's on Youtube by now a dozen times, so shouldn't be hard to find.
Anyone else looking forward to this game?

I was actually going to make a thread for this game yesterday but forgot. Here's the link to the trailer over at GiantBomb.
http://www.giantbomb.com/fallout-new-vegas-teaser-trailer/17-1972/
Fallout 3 is one of my all time favorite games, I've beaten it three times and have put improbably a solid 150 hours into it; not to mention that I'm shy two achievements of the full 1550. The great thing about New Vegas, outside of it being a new Fallout game, is that it's being made by the same (or at least most of) the original Shiny crew that made the original Fallout 1 & 2 games for the PC. Now while I'm not as big a fan of those games in comparison to Fallout 3, the humor and context of everything drew you into the universe better than Fallout 3 ever did even with as good of a job Bethesda did. I'm seriously pumped for this game.

I couldn't agree more Sean.
Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games as well. I think my favorite thing about it is how long it lasts, even after the solo story, there's so much to do in the huge Capital Wasteland. And I'm also really close to all 1550 GS on it.
I liked the original Fallouts (not as much as FO3, though) mainly because they really made you feel like you were after the apocalypse, with the drugs, gambling, etc.. Also, the older Fallout games were, IMO, a little harder than Fallout 3 (as like most older games compared to newer games), as should a game about surviving in the wasteland be, if it wishes to stay realistic.

Completely agreed. As deadly as Deathclaws were in Fallout 3, they were damned near impossible to kill in the original Fallout. One thing I heard they're bringing back for New Vegas that should be pretty killer, since it wasn't in FO3, was some of the more precise VATS aiming that was in the first two games where you could actually aim for an enemy's eyes and potentially blind them in the process (amongst other things).

I heard a rumor that New Vegas was going to let you choose between several characters with several backgrounds to play as through the game.. Kind of like Dragon Age.
It was on the Gamespot forums. It might have been fake, but it was really detailed, so at least the faker who made it was creative.
If I find it, I'll link it.

That would be a huge throwback to the old Fallouts but I kind of hope they don't go that route. I like my RPGs to tell me who I am from beginning to end or keep me guessing from beginning to end. I don't need six different points of view to tell me this, Cloud Strife was the main character not Yuffie, I shouldn't have to figure this out on my own; the game should let me know that from hour 1!

The teaser trailer didn't really excite me at first because I didn't really know what I was watching. The Fallout 3 teaser didn't really hype me up either. Not until I heard people decipher it and give their impressions did I get excited. And boy I am.

Official Xbox Magazine's latest issue (April 2010) has a pretty good article about the game. If I get a chance, tomorrow I'll scan some of the pages in but I won't make any promises. First off, one theory debunked is that it's the same exact VATS as Fallout 3 although there is one exception this time around. Melee weapons now have a special move that takes up more AP in VATS, granted you have high enough Melee skill, that does some kind of random effect; whether that be extra damage or, using the example of a 9-iron golf club like they do in the article, knock enemies over. It's also got a really strange "Wild West" cowboys theme to it which looks pretty interesting.
Super Mutants are a lot more aplenty early on in the game, so they suggest against lower level exploring this time around. An interesting thing to be noted is that we've got a lot more unique character models for our favorite green giants, along with what to mean looks like some Super Mutants more along the lines of the grey color scheme! It looks like for the most part the grey Super Mutants are a Stealthboy-addicted group called Nightkins which look totally badass.
Here are few quick notes that tickled me the right way:
-Companion Commands, a navigation wheel that lets you easily manage your AI buddies. No longer will they rush off to their death, now you can tell them to be more passive (or aggressive), to heal themselves, etc. They're 8 things you can have them do and I damned interested to see how this works out!
-Mod-able weapons. They use the example of a hunting rifle but it seems like you can modify any weapon in the game with up to 3 attachments. The rifle they're showing off had a scope attachment, custom action, and extended clip. Holy shit does it look awesome.
-Mutated geckos are back.
-Your dominant skills, or high level ones, will show up in conversations a lot more often this time around. If your trying to convince somebody to give you their reserve explosives, for example, and you have the Demolitions skill high on the totem pole then you'll get a dialogue option with [Demolition] listed that won't show up to people that don't have that skill.
-The Hoover Damn is a location.
There were a few more things they went into but that's the gist of it. It really looks like an awesome game so far and I really hope it tops Fallout 3, especially since Obsidian's doing it.

Pretty hyped about this game. Teaser was pretty epic, and I liked Fallout 3, so I am anticipating to see what the team does with this one.

Honestly, I love Fallout and that's how it is for me haha...I bought all the expansions besides mothership or whatever..because it didn't quite draw me in.
I however am looking forward to like..6 games haha.
Split/Second
Halo: Reach
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Blur
Splinter Cell: Conviction
and Singularity
I think those will be great games.
