I am attempting to make a somewhat dramatic Halo 3 film.. I'm nearly finished with the first part (it will be two or three), just having some rendering troubles.

The only reason I'm making it is because I can script a dramatic scene better than a comedy. If I sat down and worked nonstop, I could maybe get one comedy scene down with solid jokes, whereas dramatic scenes seem to come to me quickly.
Though, I'm also considering a comedy short in Guild Wars, since the idea came to me fairly easy. At times I get a comedy burst and I begin writing the full thing, though at many times it just doesn't work out.

Though, I'm not expecting the Machinima Youtube subscribers to like it, since they practically go kamikaze on their keyboards with hate comments if anything isn't a Halo 3 comedy. I call those people "Youtards"... The ones who say things like "u dun youse funne scip it failzzzz machnima is 4 rofl vidz not tis gay sh!t"

Though, in spite of the Youtards I'm keeping it not over-the-top dramatic. It's just serious and no jokes involved.
Hoping it turns out well, though not having high hopes for Youtube on it.

It can be done if you just get yourself... in the mood. Ignoring all of the other annoyances, you can indeed watch a dramatic machinima. Definitely not fully dramatic, as one cannot ignore sometimes faceless characters.
