Spider-Man 3 was one of the single handedly worst movies I've ever seen. It's right up there with X-Men 3 and The Perfect Getaway as far as bad movies go. The only saving grace for Spider-Man 3 was James Franco's acting and Venom kicking a ton of ass in the climax.

If they are gonna reboot it, though, we better get Betty Brant and Gwen Stacy with more important roles. I think the only saving grace of this reboot would be to pull solely from the comic books. If their going for a three movie deal like with the original series, here's what I wanna see:

Movie 1 - Peter gets his powers, Uncle Ben dies, Peter works for the Bugle, dates Betty Brant, battles maybe the Vulture or Doc Ock since they make the most sense, Peter breaks up with Betty because she's so afraid of Spidey, roll credits. Maybe tease Norman Osborne in there somewhere, mention Mary Jane.

Movie 2 - Fight a throw away villain in the beginning scene like Rhyno, meet Harry Osborn and Gwen Stacey, date Gwen, meet Mary Jane, meet Norman Osborn, fight the Goblin, Goblin finds out Peter is Spidey, fight the Goblin again and he loses his memories of being the Goblin, credits roll.

Movie 3 - Peter and Gwen are dating, Harry gets addicted to drugs because he hates his dad, battle Venom properly or the Lizard, Norman remembers he's the Goblin, defeats villain for the movie but Goblin has Gwen, Goblin kills Gwen, Peter is heartbroken.

Now my Movie 3 scenario could end with him starting to date or meet Mary Jane, as some of these ideas could jump around. If they did a fourth movie you could bring in Harry Goblin but this is just what I think. You could also condense the first and second movies into one but it would make the movie way to long. And by god I wanna see the real Green Goblin costume on the big screen! It would also be cool if Spidey could team up with the Fantastic Four in a movie since they've been friends and have fought together so many times but unfortunately the way the movie business goes this will never happen. His interactions with Human Torch would be priceless!

So, I'm about to get ridiculed for saying this, but I liked Spiderman 3. And I liked X-Men 3. You want to know something else? Wolverine Origins was alright. When I watched them, I enjoyed them, so I can't really say they weren't good in my opinion. And unfortunately, there's no way a movie studio would be down with giving anybody $100 million dollars for a Spider Man movie that just "mentions" Mary Jane. But alas, we can always dream...

As a film major, Xmen 3 and Spiderman 3 were alright. But if we only bashed movies that were bad, and praised movies that were good. The only films we'd ever talk about is Dark Night and Plan 9 from Outer Space, as the best and worst films in history.

I hate Spiderman 3 because of one thing. I expected more from it. After Spiderman 1 was so good, and Spiderman 2 only got better, I didn't expect to be handed something less than good. What I got was average. And that's sad, more so with the same director, and the same cast on board.

Now with Xmen 3? I have serious problems with it. First, you kill Cyclops off screen? Really? Second, you introduce Angel for what exactly? No purpose whatsoever. Finally, you teased the audience with a trailer featuring the Xmen in a post-apocalyptic world fighting a Sentinel...only for that to be an opening sequence in the first five minutes of the movie. Thanks. That'd be like going to see Dark Night, only to find out the Joker is in it for only the first ten minutes, before Haley Berry shows up as Catwoman.

I hear that, but I'm not saying that any of these movies are excellent. I'm just saying that I can't call them bad myself. There are varying degrees of good and bad, I get that. But all of the problems you listed with X-men 3 didn't bother me enough to make me not like the film, though it's not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination (that title goes to movies like Clerks, Pulp Fiction, Battle Royale and the like). I think of movies as good or bad simply on the basis of whether I enjoyed the movie over all and just kinda leave it at that. I'm certainly not a film student, I'm just a dude who really digs movies. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

I'm probably the only person who doesn't blame Brett Ratner for X-Men 3. The script was what was bad, the actual directing was okay. I kinda hate when people jump on the "Let's hate on Brett Ratner!" bandwagon because that's what it is: bandwagon mentality. He really doesn't get enough credit I think.

I was actually watching Spider-Man 3 recently and I felt that same way about it. It seemed more to me that the cast and director were doing the best they could with some bad ideas and poor writing than them suddenly getting worse at making movies.
